MAS Foundations of Coaching Level 1 Course 8-10 March 2025

Persatuan Renang Amatur Selangor (PRAS) will be organizing the MAS Foundations of Coaching Course, set to take place on 8-10 March 2025 at Pusat Akuatik Darul Ehsan, Shah Alam. This course is to equip swimming coaches with essential coaching skills, focusing on ethical practices, athlete well-being, and long-term athlete development. Participants will learn to design personalized training pathways, create a safe and encouraging learning environment, and develop high-quality training sessions that enhance fundamental swimming skills. Additionally, the course covers technical aspects of all swimming strokes, fostering a positive team culture, and understanding competition rules and procedures in Malaysia. This course is a prerequisite for any coach who wishes to undertake the MAS Level 1 Coaching Course.

It is ideal for swim instructors who have completed their Learn to Swim Teaching Certification and would like to pursue Pre-Competitive/Competitive Coaching. This course is a prerequisite for any coach who wishes to undertake the MAS Level 1 Coaching Course.

Course Details

1. Course Dates: Saturday, 8 March to Monday, 10 March 2025
2. Course Time: 830am-600pm
3. Course Location: Pusat Akuatik Darul Ehsan, Shah Alam
4. Minimum number of participants: 20
5. Eligibility: Participants must be at least 17 years old
6. Course Fee: RM1800 (Please pay to: Persatuan Renang Amatur Selangor, Bank: UOB, Account No: 1713008716)
7. Course Language: English
8. Course Delivery and Length: 22 hours over 3 days
9. Course Instructor/Trainer: Melvin Chua (Former national swimmer, 8 years experience as an instructor trainer, 14 years experience as a swim instructor)
10. Practical at the Pool: All participants are required to bring along one swimmer to coach during the practical training on Day 1 from 400-600pm. All participants will be required to enter the pool for the practical sessions so please bring along your swimwear.
11. Certificate of Completion: In order to receive the Certificate of Completion, all participants must score a minimum of 80% in the theory and practical tests, as well as obtain a Bronze Medallion Certification from the Lifesaving Society of Malaysia (LSSM). Candidates without the Bronze Medallion Certificate will need to obtain one within 6 months upon completion of this course in order to be awarded with the Certificate of Completion.
